Ghost Of Christmas

A new christmas song for 2013.
Written and recorded on Sunday 8th December 2013 by Thomas McCann in a bedroom in South London.

I can make the long way home, through the snow and sleet and memories that shiver to the bone,
Cause I'll be feeling like I'm blessed as I kiss goodbye to daily life and start drinking to excess.
I would give a gift to you, if I understood a single word as much as I'd like to.
Lying underneath your tree, as the last supply of pines are finally falling down on me.

I'll be feeling fine when I realise it's Christmas time
And I'll drink the bottle dry, drink to the best days of my life,
And I hope to find the cheer, as i reminisce when you were here,
Clean slate as good as new, 'cause I'll be spending christmas without you.

I hope you get all that you want, in a big surprise of softened eyes and kisses that still haunt,
'Cause being good or bad don't count, when you're left escaping everything you've built and you want out,
12 months doesn't seem that long, as I recall the snow was falling as fast as you were gone,
The burn of whisky in my throat, that lasted long and lingered like the ghost of christmas hope..

I know what it's all about, it's just the ones that care, I'm feeling lucky when I'm there.
I know what it's all about, it's just the ones that care, I'm feeling pretty lucky.
